The Customization Process

Choose Your Template

Choose one of our premium templates for your website. Your choice will be finalized at onboarding so you have time to be sure before we start.

Workbook & Assets

Work through the workbook to gather your branding and to write copy for each of the pages. You should dedicate a week or so for this part - it will take the longest.

Customization

The template will remain in our Squarespace Circle account through customization. Once we have all of your assets, this part should take about a week.

Revision Round

Once customization is complete, you will have five days to go through the website to make adjustments to your colors, fonts and copy.

Template Transfer

When your project is complete, we’ll transfer the template to your Squarespace account. This will start your 3-month trial so you can launch when you’re ready.

Support Period

Once you have the template, you can connect your domain and subscribe when you’re ready. You’ll get 30 days of email support for questions.

Customization projects are asynchronous. We’ll communicate via email and inside the Google doc workbook. No Zoom calls required.

  • All of our templates have the same elements, just configured in different ways depending on the design. Templates also contain the same functionality. So choosing a template comes down to these things:

    • The layout of the pages: Each page of a template follows a similar flow for design continuity. Consider the kinds of information you need your website to have and choose the template that best accommodates it. Keep in mind that the template will be adjusted for size and spacing during customization (no matter who does it) and you will be able to make any additional changes once your template is in your account.

    • The template's purpose: The majority of our templates are universal and can be used for any kind of service provider business. There are a few that are designed with more specific businesses in mind. That doesn't mean you can't adapt the template to your own business.

    • The overall design: Which design catches your eye? Focus on structure and large design elements. Can you picture your content and imagery in that configuration?

    Don't focus on the template's color palette, fonts or imagery as those will be changed during customization. Instead, focus on structure, design and flow.

    Take your time in choosing because once a template is purchased it cannot be changed.

  • Choose where to put your website involves a lot of factors beyond the aesthetics. The Squarespace platform provides everything you need to get your business online.

    A Self-Contained Platform: Unlike WordPress, Squarespace comes with everything you need to create your website. No plugins required.

    Drag-and-Drop Builder: Easily place your elements wherever you want them and create layers that add dimension to your pages.

    No Outside Hosting: Though you can purchase your domain outside Squarespace, you don’t need an extra hosting account for your website.

    Integrated Shop: Want to sell digital (or even physical) products? Squarespace has everything you need for eCommerce.

    Email Marketing: Keep everything on one platform with Squarespace’s email marketing, which is managed along with your website.

    Native Analytics: See how your website is stacking up right inside your dashboard with Squarespace’s real-time data.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • During customization, the following can be changed:

    • The color palette

    • Heading and body fonts

    • Logo, submark and favicon

    • All imagery (you can supply the imagery and/or we will source from royalty-free sites)

    • Page copy

    Once the template is complete and turned over to you, you are free to make any changes to the layout or any other part.

  • Whether you’re buying the template to DIY or choosing customization, the process is the same:

    1. We’ll send you a contributor invite from Squarespace

    2. Accept this invitation to put the template into your account (if you don’t have one, it will prompt you to start one)

    3. We’ll then transfer ownership and the template will be yours

  • Your template will be transferred as a new website on a 3-month trial. When you're ready, you can disconnect your domain from your current website and cancel that plan and then connect it to the new website and subscribe with 10% off your first year.

    • An account with the Core plan or higher

    • A domain purchased from any registrar

    • Branding elements: colors, fonts, aesthetic

    • Page copy

    You don't need a Squarespace account before buying a template. Once we transfer your template to you, you will be prompted to create your account.

  • If you’re buying a template to DIY, you will have access to our tutorial library.

    If we’re customizing a template for you, you’ll get 30 days of email support after delivery.

  • These pages are not included with standard customization:

    • Portfolio (add it at no extra cost if you have content)

    • The sales page

    • Terms and conditions

    • Privacy policy

     Standard customization does not include these items:

    • Uploading your blog posts

    • Copywriting*

    • Changes to the structure of the page layouts

    • Brand design beyond a simple text logo if needed

    • CRM or email marketing setup

    • Setup of other external platforms or systems

    *We can offer feedback on your copy if requested.

  • No. Your template workbook covers both of these things to help you gather all your assets for customization. During the customization process, we can offer feedback on your copy if requested.

    If you don't have a logo, we'll create a simple text logo as a placeholder.

  • Yes, our templates use some basic CSS in order to enhance the functionality. This code is already integrated into the template. You’ll find a video about this code in the tutorial library.

  • Template sales are final. No refunds will be offered.

    Full payment for customization is due at booking. This is due to the short duration of these projects. We have a strict no refund policy. Refunds will not be considered regardless of the timing of delivery.

  • Cason Creative Studio retains the copyright and intellectual property rights to all templates. Purchase of any template in any format grants you a single license to use the template on your own website and for your own purposes.
